    St. Mary:  5:30 p.m.     CCD & All Parishioners

    Ash Wednesday, March 05, 2025

    is the beginning of Lent.  This is not a Holy Day of Obligation.  As the first day of the Lenten season, however, it is a very important day in the Church year. Our season of repentance characterized by prayer, fasting, and almsgiving begins with Ash Wednesday liturgy.

    Days of abstinence are Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent.

    Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are days of both abstinence and fasting.

    Abstinence: No Meat ( beef, pork, chicken, lamb etc.) You  may have milk, egg , cheese and fish. Abstinence is also observed on all Fridays of Lent. Catholics age 14 and older are bound to observe abstinence regulations except for serious reasons;

    Fasting: This means one full meal. The other two meals must not exceed one full meal. No snacking between meals is allowed. Catholics age 18-59 are bound to observe fasting regulations except for serious reasons. For all other weekdays of Lent, the Church encourages fasting, either in the traditional sense or through some other form of self-denial determined by conscience.

    These Lenten regulations are minimum. You are  encouraged to do other penance during Lent. For more information, Please refer to the CCC 1250-1253 or visit www.usccb.org for questions &  answers, reflections, Lenten prayers.

    Lenten Pilgrimage – Saturday, March 29th, 2025

    Have you ever been to the Shine of the Stations of the Cross, in San Luis, Colorado?  A few parishioners are planning a one-day travel to visit the life size sculptures and extend an invitation to all.   Save the Date--Further details will be provided.  For more information call Anita Martinez (505) 860-8065 or Liz Valdez (505) 486-6731).

    A short 45-minute drive southeast of Alamosa will lead you to the town of San Luis, home of a cultural and spiritual display of inspiring art. The Stations of the Cross are beautifully depicted in a series of bronze sculptures by internationally known San Luis artist Huberto Maestas. They rest along a comfortable three-quarter mile trail that climbs a short distance up a small mesa named La Mesa de la Piedad y de la Misericordia (the Hill of Piety and Mercy).  The walk offers numerous opportunities for meditation and reflection and ends at the top at the chapel, La Capilla de Todos Los Santos (The Chapel of All Saints).
